Sugar Isn’t Just Called “Sugar”

Many of us pick up foods in stores, throw them in our basket, and don’t really pay much attention to the product labelling.  Perhaps we might glance down the “traffic light” style labels which the retailer has “helpfully” added and think twice if we read too much “red”.

Getting to know food labels is important for those of us who want to fight #TheWarOnSugar, help our kids be healthier, and make informed choices.

What may terrify startle surprise you is the number of foods you buy which have sugar added to them – often foods you’d never even consider such as bacon.

The marketing executives have developed clever ways to disguise the word “sugar” because of it’s demonisation and attempted to baffle us.

So if you observe any of these substances on food labels, just read it “sugar”.  There are 61 names!
